"The work that informs the work,

that informs the work,

that informs the work..."

A personal quote and mantra.

It is frequently heard in my classroom as an  invitation to delve deeper into each project in order to hoist the chances of generating well-informed, substantial work.

This small study is the result of being gobsmacked by the splendour of Prague.

I tried to capture its je ne sais quoi through stitching on a  paper napkin, which is what was at hand when inspiration struck.

The images below investigate how amplifying the subject matter can lead to working and re-working the original embroidered piece until it is fully re-contextualized and reinterpreted at a larger format. In this instance, screen-printing became the perfect medium to carry the message.
